SICT: Government of Mexico will deliver 551 new road projects

The adoption of clinker micronization has the potential to reduce the clinker factor in cement products by up to 50%.

The Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT), Jorge Nuño Lara, reported that at the end of the current administration, the total sum of road infrastructure projects will amount to 551 works with more than 8,100 km in length and an investment total of more than 228,000 million pesos (approximately USD 13,347 million).

Before President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, he highlighted that in the first two months of this year, the delivery of 10 infrastructure works was completed, with a total investment of 18.6 billion pesos (more than USD 1 billion) and a length of 380 km. .

Nuño Lara specified that all of these works mean a greater progress in compliance of 85% in the Infrastructure Plan carried out by the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) for the current federal administration.

Works delivered

“We continue to advance without pauses and with our best efforts in the remaining 15% of the Infrastructure Plan,” assured the head of the SICT after highlighting that among these actions delivered, the new Oaxaca-Puerto Escondido highway , on the Pinotepa Nacional-Salina highway, stands out. Cruz, better known as Barranca Larga-Ventanilla, put into operation on February 4 of this year.

The new work that was finally completed after beginning construction in 2009, reduces the journey from the capital of Oaxaca to Puerto Escondido from 6.5 to 2.5 hours, after an investment of 13,181 million pesos (USD 771.5 million) that will benefit to more than 100,000 inhabitants of 11 municipalities in that region by linking them with the coast, he highlighted.

Also, he indicated, the modernization of the Chapultepec-Maneadero Highway, in the state of Baja California, which is part of the Transpeninsular Highway Corridor, was completed, with an investment of 853 million pesos (almost USD 50 million). In the state of Baja California Sur , the expansion of the Vizcaíno-Guerrero Negro highway was carried out , where 416 million pesos (USD 24.3 million pesos) were invested to expand this 32 km road.

In the state of Guerrero, with an investment of 619 million pesos (USD 36 million), the 162 km long Tlapa-Marquelia rural road was launched and a viaduct with high technical complexity that now connects the region of La Montaña and the Costa Chica of Guerrero, which represents a time saving of 45 minutes for the benefit of almost 200,000 inhabitants.

In the state of Nayarit, the Branch to Huajimic was put into operation , which contributes to improving communication between the inhabitants of Huajimic and Las Jaras. In the state of Quintana Roo, the Chac Mool Road was completed , a work that will facilitate access to the hotel zone and the city center.

In the state of Veracruz, the SICT put into operation on February 21 the Sayula Bypass of the Federal Highway MEX-185 Coatzacoalcos-Salina Cruz, a work that complements the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. In addition, the expansion of the Ozuluama-Tampico highway to four lanes was completed . The work is part of the modernization of the Veracruz-Monterrey highway corridor, with a branch to Matamoros.

Upcoming deliveries

Likewise, Secretary Jorge Nuño announced that the SICT has highway projects scheduled to be delivered in the following months , such as: the Lagunas I and II Interchanges , which will improve road safety conditions on the Acayucan-La Ventosa highway. In Quintana Roo, the Nichupté Vehicular Bridge will reduce the travel time to the airport area and Chac Mool Avenue by 20 minutes.

The expansion and construction of Las Vigas-Límite with the states of Guerrero and Oaxaca; In San Luis Potosí, the Ciudad Valles-Tamazunchale road is expanded , including new bridges and interchanges.

In Oaxaca, construction of the Mitla-Tehuantepec highway continues , which will provide better connectivity of the industrial port of Salina Cruz with the center of the state of Oaxaca. Work awaited for more than 10 years.

He highlighted the connectivity of the Guadalajara-Vallarta projects in the states of Jalisco and Nayarit, made up of three priority works that total 145 km in length and various high-specification structures with an investment of 13,980 million pesos (USD 818.3 million). These projects generate a time saving of 3 hours to reach the beach area of ​​Nayarit, promoting the economic and regional development of this area.

Just like the Tepic-Compostela highway with a length of 26 km and 34 structures, it amounts to an investment of 2,473 million pesos (USD 144.7 million), generating a reduction of 35 minutes of travel time.

The second Compostela-Las Varas section , which will have a length of 29.3 km and an investment of 3,786 million pesos (USD 221.6 million) that will provide a time saving of 1 hour 30 minutes, will be put into operation prior to the start of Holy Week . Finally, the Las Varas-Puerto Vallarta highway stands out, with a length of 90 km, of which 55 km have already been completed.

Work continues on the San Vicente Interchange to the Puerto Vallarta Airport , which consists of an investment of 2,024 million pesos (USD 118.4 million) and will provide a time saving of 55 minutes, for the benefit of more than 50,000 inhabitants of Compostela and Bahía de Banderas, concluded the head of the SICT, Jorge Nuño Lara.
